God often speaks to us through dreams. However, spiritual attacks can also come in the form of a dream. How can you tell the difference? Dreams take place in our mind, therefore they are part of our thoughts. God’s word tells us to take every thought captive to Christ. It destroys arguments and every lofty opinion that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, (paraphrased from 2 Corinthians 10:5). So, if a dream produces feelings of fear and anxiety, it is probably not from God, but most likely a spiritual attack.

“For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NET)

Dreams can be interpreted by looking at what they symbolize. We look to the Bible for the symbols that appeared in the dream and see what God’s Word says about them. So having explained this, let me tell you about a dream I had on December 30, 2020. I believe it tells what God wants from me and from you in 2021. It follows after the style forecast blog in a very fitting way, although it was actually written before it.

This was a happy dream, there were feelings of joy in it. I saw myself with my hair grown down past my shoulders. (My Covid-Creation was a thing of the past). But, the texture of my hair was different. It wasn’t heavy and weighed down as usual. It was lighter with soft airy curls that reflected light and movement. The color was my usual neutral brown but with pretty, golden blonde highlights beautifully moving throughout the big soft wavy curls. It was beautiful and I felt beautiful. My hair was styled away from my face held by a tiara of fine gold with a lacy pattern. I had on many strands of matching fine gold, long dangling earrings, hanging down past my shoulders, longer than my hair. I looked like a chandelier! LOL

After I woke up and told my husband the dream, we laughed. I thought it was hysterical until I remembered that this dream was probably from the Lord. So, I looked to the Bible for its interpretation, by seeing what the key points symbolized.

First off, note that the feeling in the dream was one of beauty and joy. That’s definitely a Godly sign! Also, my hair was long again. In many places in the Bible, beautiful women are depicted with long hair. It is not only a thing of beauty but a protective covering from the Lord.

Then there was the fine gold of the tiara. God’s word tells us He will refine us like pure gold. Think for a moment about what it takes for gold to be refined. It is passed through the fire. Ouch! But, Jesus tells us that in this life we will have trials and tribulations. However, He will provide a way for us to endure, refining us in the process. This is called sanctification; it is the process of being made holy.

“No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NET)

Consider the tiara or crown: there are over one hundred Bible verses about crowns and receiving crowns as a heavenly reward. Maybe I’ll go into this in more detail at some point in a later blog.

Finally, the combination of the tiara and the earrings making me look like a chandelier, while comical in thought, is really quite magnificent when perceived through a Biblical perspective. A chandelier produces light, not just ordinary light, but magnificent light. Jesus calls us to be the “Light”, as He is the Light of the World. As Christ followers, we are expected to imitate Him.

“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 NET)

Funny, but this is the fourth blog in a row that this next scripture keeps coming up. I’ll have you memorizing it in no time:

“The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it’ (John 1:5 ESV)

This dark world we are living in has seemed to become even darker this past year. But the darkness only magnifies the light. We are to stand out and shine magnificently bright in the darkness. Please don’t let the Christian idiom “Be the light” become cliche in your life. Don’t let those words go over your head, without them having any impact on changes in behavior and attitude in your life. We are all being refined day by day.

Take the time to read Gods word, take time to have a personal relationship with Him and really get to know Him. The Bible characterizes God with over 700 different names that describe Him. This is an amazing way to gain wisdom and understanding for living your best life, and your faith will be increased in the process.

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.” (Proverbs 4:7-9 ESV)

“Consequently, faith comes by hearing the message and the message is heard by hearing the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17 NIV)

So, the summary of my dream is this: enduring through the hard times, shining the light of Christ in stark contrast against the dark ways of the world is beautiful in God’s eyes. He gave me a beautiful vision of myself, inspiring me to press on for the prize, the crown of glory that awaits each of us after finishing the race.

“Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.” (1 Corinthians 9:25 NET)

It may seem to some of you that the message about reading the Bible is getting redundant. But for what it’s worth, this is what the Lord has placed on my heart to share with all of you. I believe it is my mission for God to encourage people to seek Him through the reading of His Word. So be it! (Amen)

Well, that’s it for this week. It’s time for me to stop procrastinating and get busy with that exercise now. So, have a great week and thank you for reading and sharing my blog.
